Protect the academy from every direction.

Safe Academy 360 screens and certifies your coaches, documents your standards, and checks every new registration against public records and sex offender registries, inside the signup your members already complete.

One incident ends a school. Not because the owner was careless, but because nothing was written down, nobody was trained, and no one checked. Safe Academy 360 puts training, written standards, and registration screening behind the academy so the answer to "what were you doing about it" already exists.

What the 360 covers

Safe Academy 360 is a martial arts safety certification for the academy and its coaches, with registration screening built in. The 360 is coverage around the whole operation, not a checklist an owner completes once. Each direction states what it does and what it does not do. Read each one in full.

  • Certification of the academy and its coaches

Each coach is screened against public records before anything else. A coach who does not pass review does not proceed. Coaches then complete SafeSport, mandated reporter, and CPR training and upload each certificate through the platform. The academy adopts written standards and is listed publicly.

Uploaded certificates are kept on file. They are not verified with the issuing body. Each credential expires on its own clock, and a coach's status shows lapsed when any one of them does.

  • Screening at registration

When someone registers with your academy, the registration is checked against public records and sex offender registries as part of the signup they already complete. Screening is disclosed in the registration agreement. The academy sees which sources answered and any possible matches, with links to the public record, for its own review.

An absence of matches is not proof of anything. Registry data is incomplete, matching is name based, and some sources may not answer a given search. No screening catches everyone.

    Screening

What it is not

This is not a government program, not a licensing body, and not a guarantee. Registry and public records data is incomplete, matching is imperfect, and no screening catches everyone. What Safe Academy 360 gives an academy is screened and trained coaches, written standards, a check on every new registration, and a record of all three.

  • Screened and trained coaches
  • Written standards the academy has adopted
  • A check on every new registration
  • A record of all three

Safe Academy 360 is an independent third party verifier. The academy does not certify itself, and the program is not owned by any academy, affiliation, or sanctioning body. It is operated by Roll Payments, which also provides payment services to academies. Who operates this and why.

How enrollment works

  1. Tell us about the academy

Academy name, location, how many coaches to certify, and how many students are minors. The enrollment form takes a few minutes.

  2. Coaches are screened, then train

Each coach is screened against public records first. Coaches who pass review complete SafeSport, mandated reporter, and CPR training with the providers directly.

  3. Certificates go on file and standards are adopted

Each coach uploads their certificates through the platform. The academy adopts the written standards and keeps them where members can read them.

  4. The academy is listed

The academy appears in the public directory with its certificate number, and receives its certificate and placard artwork. Each credential is tracked to its own expiry date.

Certified academies

The first certified academies will be listed here as they complete the program. If your academy has certified and is not listed, tell us.

Common questions

Is this a government program or a license?

No. Safe Academy 360 is a private program operated by Roll Payments. It is not a government program, not a licensing body, and not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, any registry operator, any sanctioning body, or any insurer.

Does certification mean a coach or academy is safe?

No. Certification means the academy's coaches were screened against public records, completed the three trainings, and have their certificates on file, and that the academy adopted written standards. It reduces risk. It does not guarantee anyone's conduct, and no screening catches everyone.

What does a Safe Academy 360 listing tell a parent?

That the academy has met the program's requirements as of the certified date shown, and when its renewal is due. It does not tell a parent anything about any individual, and it is not a substitute for asking the academy questions directly. Questions any parent should ask.

What happens when a coach's certificate expires?

Each credential has its own expiry date, tracked separately. When any one of a coach's credentials expires, that coach's status shows lapsed until a current certificate is uploaded. Expiry dates are visible to the academy ahead of time.
